The Civil Rights, Housing, and Voting Rights Task Force works to protect the civil rights, housing and voting rights of the Latino community. The task force oversees issues such as the Voting Rights Act, hate crimes, and housing fairness.

Washington D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement on a report that House Republicans are planning to cut $876 million from Federal Emergency Management Agency's disaster relief account to finance the President's border wall:
"It's disgusting and disgraceful that Republican lawmakers thought it was ok to pillage one-third of FEMA's disaster relief account and use it to build President Trump's senseless border wall. The federal disaster aid account is a critical lifeline for people recovering from catastrophes like Harvey, it is not a slush fund for ridiculous political whims.

Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement urging President Trump not to issue a pardon for former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. This statement comes on the heels of reports that the President said that he was "seriously considering" issuing a pardon for Arpaio, who was convicted of criminal contempt for ignoring a judge's order to stop traffic patrols targeting suspected undocumented immigrants.
Arpaio's tenure as Maricopa Sheriff was mired in controversy related to alleged racism and abuse of power.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the leadership of the Congressional Quad-Caucus – which is composed of chairs of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) – and Congresswoman Barbara Lee and Congressman David Cicilline sent a letter to President Donald Trump calling for the immediate removal of Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka and Stephen Miller from the White House. Bannon, Gorka and Miller serve as senior advisors to the President.
Congressional Quad-Caucus leadership along with Congresswoman Barbara Lee released the following statements upon release of the letter.

Washington, D.C. - On Friday, July 28th, Rep. Luis V. Gutiérrez and 117 colleagues introduced the American Hope Act of 2017. Recent actions by State Attorneys General and the Trump Administration have put the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in peril. This bill would provide a permanent legislative solution for the more than 800,000 young people enrolled in DACA and put thousands of others on a path to earn permanent legal residency and eventual citizenship if they meet certain requirements.
An alliance made up of Members of House Democratic Leadership, the Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, Congressional Progressive Caucus, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus gathered for a press conference in support of Dreamers, DACA, and this critical legislation.

"I'm alarmed by reports that the Trump Administration is using a strategy that punishes victims of human smuggling and their family members as a way to deter human traffickers. Oftentimes families have no option but to pay smugglers to protect the lives of these vulnerable, innocent children.

Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Caucus urges the House to oppose "No Sanctuary for Criminals Act" (H.R. 3003) and "Kate's Law" (H.R. 3004).
These two measures will undercut law enforcement's ability to keep communities safe, undermine Constitutional protections, and criminalize immigrants. The severe incarceration penalties in H.R. 3004 will swell the number of immigrants in prisons with no criminal convictions and tear families apart. H.R.
