"People will die because of the Republican assault on health care," Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Chair Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) said during a news conference on the looming government shutdown. Chair Meng and other Democratic caucus leaders placed blame at the feet of Republicans if government funding does run out. Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) began the news conference vowing to "continue the fight" adding, "this is their shutdown." 

Harlingen, Texas (Border Report) — A family that was deported from South Texas to Mexico earlier this year is struggling to receive medical care for their severely ill daughter and they desperately want to return.

Lawyers with the Texas Civil Rights Project (TCRP), who are representing the Hernandez family, on Thursday said the parents, Juan and Maria, have been waiting south of the border since February for permission from the Department of Homeland Security to return to the United States.

De acuerdo con el representante demócrata de Nueva York, el contenido del plan en temas como Medicaid traiciona las promesas electorales de los republicanos, y, en particular, del presidente. “Este proyecto de ley no cumple las promesas que los republicanos le hicieron al pueblo estadounidense”, expuso Espaillat.
