WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Raul Ruiz M.D. (CA-36) released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to pass the Build Back Better Act (BBB):

"I am proud that House CHC Members unanimously voted to advance President Biden's agenda and pass the Build Back Better Act," said Dr. Raul Ruiz. "The Build Back Better Act will improve the lives of Hispanic families with transformative provisions like universal pre-k, affordable childcare, and a Child Tax Credit expansion. This landmark legislation will help Hispanic families succeed, lift children out of poverty, strengthen the middle class, and enable parents to go back to work."

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), and to the Department of Defense (DOD) requesting a briefing on the status of the interagency Immigrant Military Members and Veterans Initiative (IMMVI), which aims to assist noncitizen service members who were deported from the United States. The letter highlights this issue as a top priority for the Caucus, and outlines questions on the steps the agencies are taking to assist noncitizen service members, veterans and their immediate family members who were deported from the United States.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) met with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Ur Mendoza Jaddou to discuss immigration matters including naturalization petitions, asylum modifications, and reducing barriers to legal immigration. She is the first woman, first Latina, and first daughter of immigrants to lead the agency.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Raul Ruiz, M.D. released the following statement in observance of Latina Equal Pay Day, which raise awareness about the stark wage gap faced by Latina workers. For each dollar that their white male counterparts earn, Latinas are paid only 57 cents. Latinas face the largest wage gap among all racial and ethnic groups. It takes the average Latina 22 months to earn the same amount that an average white man earns in 12 months. Latina Equal Pay Day is observed on October 21, when a Latina's pay would have caught up with that of white non-Hispanic men from the previous year.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—On October 18, 2021, the U.S. Senate adopted the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC)-endorsed Hispanic Heritage Month Resolution (S. Res.417), introduced by Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and (H.Res.706) Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29). The Hispanic Heritage Month resolution celebrates the contributions of the millions of Hispanics across the United States.
