CHC Chair Statement on the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection

Washington, D.C. – In a letter sent last week, CHC Members asked that the Administration secure key commitments from leaders of the Western Hemisphere to protect the safety and human dignity of vulnerable populations migrating across the Americas. The Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection released today will mobilize the entire region around bold actions that will transform our approach to managing migration in the Americas, which is a step in the right direction.

CHC Chair Dr. Raul Ruiz released the following statement:

"The Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection will mobilize our Western Hemisphere region to carry out bold actions that will transform our approach to managing migration in the Americas. It will ensure we build a more humane, regional approach to migration that recognizes the importance of addressing both the root causes of migration and expands legal pathways and humanitarian programs for vulnerable communities desperately seeking stability," said Chair Dr. Ruiz. "The Congressional Hispanic Caucus will remain laser-focused on ensuring that our partners in the Western Hemisphere protect the safety and human dignity of vulnerable populations migrating across the Americas."
