CHC Congratulates Julie Chávez Rodríguez on Appointment to Serve as First Latina White House Senior Advisor

Washington, D.C. – Today, President Biden announced Julie Chávez Rodríguez will serve as a White House Senior Advisor. In her previous roles, Julie was Deputy Campaign Manager on the Biden-Harris presidential campaign and Special Assistant and Senior Deputy Director of Public Engagement in the Office of Public Engagement on the Obama-Biden Administration. She also led the César E. Chávez Foundation. Currently, she serves as the Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. There are currently four Latinos in President Biden's Cabinet — the most to ever serve a president concurrently. Chávez Rodríguez will be the first Latina to hold such a senior role on a president's West Wing staff.

"The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) congratulates Julie Chávez Rodríguez on her new role as White House Senior Advisor," said Chair Dr. Ruiz. "Julie is making history as the first Latina to hold the top senior advisor position at the White House. She has a distinguished career in public service in which she has uplifted the lives of Latinos and working families to carry on the life's work of her grandfather, César E. Chávez. The CHC is proud that a Latina will advise President Biden as he makes critical decisions that impact our Latino communities across the country. We celebrate you, Julie, and stand ready to work with you as you take on this new role."

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), founded in December 1976, is organized as a Congressional Member organization, governed under the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives. The CHC is dedicated to voicing and advancing, through the legislative process, issues affecting Hispanics in the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Territories.
