CHC Statement on Louisiana Title 42 Ruling

Washington, D.C. – Following the Louisiana ruling on Title 42, the CHC has issued the following statement:

"Today's federal court ruling on Title 42 is outrageous, ridiculous, and erodes our asylum system. Title 42 is a public health emergency policy that can be initiated and ended by an administration. It is not a way to manage the border. Furthermore, Title 42 denies asylum seekers their legal rights under American law to due process in the U.S. and goes counter to international humanitarian norms and values, said Chair Dr. Ruiz. CHC calls on the Administration to appeal this decision. Congress must pass comprehensive immigration reform, with a pathway to citizenship, that modernizes border efficiency and immigration laws while addressing the root causes of migration."
