WASHINGTON, D.C.— Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez, Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Immigration Task Force (Task Force), and Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), today announced the CHC Immigration Principles for the 117th Congress. These principles will inform the work of the CHC Task Force as it continues to partner with President-elect Joe Biden on immigration reform initiatives that will restore our values as a nation that welcomes immigrants. Prior to releasing the principles, Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez, CHC Chairman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36), and other members of the CHC met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to discuss immigration as a priority under the Biden Administration with CHC leading the effort.

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, 112 Democratic lawmakers sent a letter led by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) to President-elect Joe Biden to express their commitment to addressing immigration reform. The CHC and Democratic lawmakers stand ready to build a more humane and fair immigration system that permanently protects Dreamers and Temporary Protected Status-holders, provides a stable labor force to fuel economic growth, and reunites parents and their children separated at our southern border.

Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) released the statement below following President Trump's announcement that he will visit the border wall in the Rio Grande Valley on Tuesday:

"Today, President Trump will visit his failed border wall, acting in accordance with his four years of demonizing, dehumanizing, and scapegoating our immigrant communities. No amount of rewriting the past will erase Trump's failures. History will judge his Administration for their numerous crimes against humanity, including the ruthless separation of children from their families—many of whom have yet to be reunited," said Chairman Ruiz.

Washington, D.C.—Today, Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, under the Chairmanship of Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36), released the statement below regarding their support for the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump. All 34 House Members of the CHC have co-sponsored the article of impeachment charging President Trump with incitement of insurrection. WASHINGTON — Today, President-Elect Joe Biden nominated Isabel Guzman as Small Business Administrator. Guzman currently serves as Director of California's Office of the Small Business Advocate. She was appointed to the position by Gov. Gavin Newsom. She is also the co-founder of a small business called GovContractPros. The company helps small business owners navigate federal government resources. WASHINGTON — Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) welcomed two new Members to the CHC, all whose elections mark historic breakthroughs in the United States Congress: Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-03), and Congressman Ritchie Torres (NY-15). Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-NM), an existing CHC Member, was sworn in today as a new Senator. We anticipate Senator-designate Alex Padilla will join the CHC in the coming weeks when he is sworn-in to the Senate before Inauguration Day on January 20, 2020.

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) unveiled an all-Latina CHC team and made two key staff announcements for the roles of Policy Director and Press Secretary/Digital Director. Ivelisse Porroa joins the CHC as Policy Director and Clarissa Robles as Press Secretary/Digital Director. Alma Acosta will continue her role as Executive Director, a position she has held since 2016. Under the leadership of Chairman Ruiz, the CHC will use its leverage and strength to advance public policy that creates lasting change for Hispanic families and work to ensure the promise of America is accessible to the 60 million Hispanics living across the country.

WASHINGTON — Today, in one of his final acts as Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Chairman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), sent a letter to the Library of Congress nominating the 1997 film Selena to the National Film Registry. Since 1988, the National Film Registry has selected films which are culturally or historically significant for preservation.
