Washington D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement to mark the end of Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated each year from the 15th of September until the 15th of October:
"This Hispanic Heritage Month, President Trump and his administration marked the occasion by continuing to impose an anti-immigrant and un-American agenda on the nation, insulting and shaming Americans facing a humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico, sabotaging the health care of millions, and supporting a tax plan that is a multi-trillion dollar giveaway to the wealthiest, at the expense of middle class and working Americans. The President's irresponsible and reckless actions and policies jeopardize the hard-earned gains of the Hispanic community.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairwoman Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) and CHC First Vice-Chair Rep. Joaquin Castro (TX-20) sent a letter to 32 top tech companies to ask for critical diversity metrics.
As Members write in the letter, "we write to express our strong concern regarding efforts by tech and "gig economy" companies to hire qualified Hispanics both internally, as full-time employees, and externally as professional services vendors and consultants, as well as the amount of partnership and philanthropic spending that you allocate to Hispanic-serving and Hispanic-led institutions."
The Members cited the fact that the tech sector employs 7 million people in the U.S. and accounts for more than $1.3 trillion in economic activity in the nation's economy.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Joint Economic Committee Democrats and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus today released a fact sheet on the "Economic State of the Latino Community in America." The fact sheet outlines the latest statistics on the economic well-being of the nation's Latino community, including population, employment, and earnings statistics, and other key indicators.
Latinos continue to be one of the fastest growing minority groups in the United States, and account for a combined $1.3 trillion in economic activity. Latinos are also more likely than the general population to become entrepreneurs.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairwoman Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement after the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt's announced that the Trump administration intends to repeal the Clean Power Plan, putting our environment, health, economy, and national security at risk:
"The Trump administration's repeal of the Clean Power Plan without any plan to reduce carbon pollution and fight climate change is egregiously irresponsible and will have severe consequences for the health and well-being of our communities and planet. This is especially concerning as we increasingly see the devastating health and economic costs of severe droughts, wildfires, and hurricanes.

Washington, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement on reaching the October 5th DACA renewal deadline, which will leave tens of thousands of DACA recipients unprotected as a result of the artificial cutoff date:
"Today is a sad day in America. Today the President of the United States and his administration began to undocument the documented. It began when President Trump irresponsibly ended DACA and set an arbitrary and rushed 30 day renewal period endangering thousands of young Americans. Now, the President recklessly and dangerously leaves young patriots who have met every requirement to earn DACA status unprotected from deportation. Not only is this shameful, but it tears at the moral fiber of who we are as a country.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairwoman Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement in reaction to the Committee on Homeland Security's markup of H.R. 3548, the so-called Border Security for America Act of 2017:
"H.R. 3548 is draconian and counterproductive to the goal of enacting common-sense legislative solutions to our broken immigration system. At a time when our border is the safest it's ever been and passing a clean DREAM Act is more urgent than ever, House Republicans want to bring forth legislation that would irresponsibly divert billions of American taxpayer dollars to pay for a rushed border agent hiring surge and President Trump's border wall.
