Gutiérrez, and 18 members of the CHC sent a letter calling on the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Appropriations Committee. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement on a letter sent to the Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer, about Israeli Prime Minister using Twitter on Saturday evening to praise President Trump's executive order authorizing construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border:
"We express our disappointment and deep concern with Prime Minister Netanyahu's statement. While Israel and the United States are steadfast partners in many areas, including security cooperation, the current debate within the United States over immigration and border security is beyond the scope of the U.S-Israel security relationship. Indeed, statements like Prime Minister Netanyahu's tweet are inflammatory and detrimental to U.S.-Mexico relations.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham introduced the "Build Bridges Not Walls Act," which would prohibit the implementation of President Trump's executive order to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border
"The people who know the border the best, whether it's companies or lawmakers, both Republicans and Democrats, border communities, trade groups, economists, and law enforcement officials, all agree that building a wall is unnecessary, impractical, ineffective, and a complete waste of time and taxpayer money," said Rep. Lujan Grisham. "This bill protects taxpayers by stopping the funding for a wall that is not needed and from any other attempts by the President to fund similar orders."

CHC Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01):
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Members met with Secretary Tom Vilsack of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The meeting was held on Capitol Hill at the request of the Caucus. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has enormous implications for the Latino community, including its administration of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), as well as the National School Lunch Program. For example, children of color are the largest demographic served by the National School Lunch Program, with 77% of Latino students eligible to participate in the free/reduced price lunch program.
Washington, D.C. – Today, the Congressional Tri-Caucus — which is comprised of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC)— calls upon House leaders to set forth a bipartisan budget agreement in order to avert another government shutdown in December.
Washington D.C.: Chairman Charles A. Gonzalez (TX 20) released the following statement regarding President Obama’s establishment of César Estrada Chávez National Monument in Keene, California.
Chairman Charles Gonzalez:
“César Chávez is an American hero and I’m so glad his legacy is being honored with this monument. The monument has an even more special meaning since site was the headquarters of the United Farm Workers (UFW) and the Chávez family home.
Chavez’s vision and leadership at UFW was not just important for the Hispanic community, but rather, Chavez was champion for the living wage and the dignity due to all workers. Anyone facing adversity and speaking truth to power can find inspiration in his story.
