WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today,Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) accepted the Ohtli Award from the Government of Mexico on behalf of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC). The Ohtli Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Government of Mexico to individuals or organizations that have worked to empower the Mexican diaspora and helped to "open the path" for new Mexican American and Hispanic generations. Mexican Ambassador to the United States Esteban Moctezuma awarded Chair Dr. Ruiz at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — To commemorate National Hispanic Heritage Month, which begins today and runs through October 15, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), led by Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (D-CA), and the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee (JEC), led by Congressman Don Beyer (D-VA), released a new reportthat examines the contributions of Hispanic workers to the U.S. economy.

WASHINGTON, D.C.–Earlier this week, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Raul Ruiz, M.D., Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chair Joyce Beatty, CBC Health Braintrust Chair Robin L. Kelly, and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke wrote to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to once again urge that they close the Medicaid "coverage gap" with a permanent and comprehensive federal policy in the forthcoming economic recovery package. WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) has endorsed H.R. 1581, the Build America's Libraries Act, introduced by Sens. Jack Reed (D-RI), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), and Ron Wyden (D-OR), as well as Reps. Andy Levin (MI-09) and Don Young (AK-AL). The bill authorizes a $5 billion fund to modernize American library infrastructure and ensure all Americans have access to high-tech, state-of-the-art library facilities.

WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) has endorsed H.R. 560, the Northern Mariana Islands Legal Residence Relief Act of 2021, introduced by CHC Member Congressman Gregorio "Kilili" Camacho Sablan (MP). The bill would allow certain Commonwealth-only Transitional Workers (CWs) and foreign investors with five years of Marianas permanent residence the ability to apply for U.S. permanent residence. Additionally, it would ensure Mariana permanent residents and CWs have access to relief assistance following natural disasters.
