Austin III recommending Hispanic servicemembers for the renaming of Fort Hood and Fort Bragg. Earlier this year, the Commission on the Naming of Items of the Department of Defense That Commemorate the Confederate States of America or Any Person Who Served Voluntarily with the Confederate States of America was formed to remove all names, symbols, displays, monuments, and paraphernalia that honor or commemorate the Confederate States of America or any person who served voluntarily with the Confederate States of America from all assets of the Department of Defense.

"As a former U.S. ambassador to Uruguay, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, and Chief of Staff to First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Ambassador Reynoso has direct experience fostering diplomatic relations and strengthening democratic ideas and values to create opportunities at home and abroad. Her diverse experience makes her an excellent choice for the important position, and I urge the Senate to confirm her for the post of U.S. Ambassador to Spain."

The resolution was led by CHC Members Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez (D-NJ), House Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere Chairman Albio Sires (NJ-08), and Congressman Darren Soto (FL-09), as well as Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23).

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) has endorsed a slate of environmental justice bills aimed at promoting energy and climate resiliency and protecting communities disproportionately affected by pollution and climate change. The endorsements were shepherded by CHC Climate Change Taskforce Chair Congresswoman Nanette Barragán (CA-44).

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Last week, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), and Democratic Women's Caucus (DWC) sent a letter to U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Isabella Guzman urging her to assist businesses that have had their Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) grants rescinded.

The RRF was created in the American Rescue Plan (ARP) to provide grants to restaurants suffering the financial effects of the pandemic. The ARP included a priority window for the RRF where for the first 21 days, "disadvantaged communities" could apply for grants before the general public. The SBA defined this priority group to include women and minority owned businesses.
