WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last week, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Nanette Barragán and Vice Chair of Policy Darren Soto hosted a roundtable on housing with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations Dr. Kimberly A. McClain, members of House Democratic leadership, CHC members, and community stakeholders from various parts of the country.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Chairs of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), Congressional Black Caucus (CBC),Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), and Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) responded to a federal judge’s ruling last week that the Minority Business Development Agency’s (MBDA) presumptions for race and ethnicity are unconstitutional. This decision prevents the MBDA from being able to consider an applicant’s race or ethnicity in determining eligibility for their programs.

Washington, D.C. — Today, New Democrat Coalition Affordable Housing Task Force Chair Norma J. Torres (CA-35), Vice Chair Emilia Sykes (OH-13) and Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Nanette Barragán (CA-44) led 21 Members in letters to investigate recent reports that Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) engaged in racially discriminatory lending practices. A recent analysis found statistically significant disparities in both conventional and VA loans for both Black and Latino mortgage applicants when compared to similarly situated white mortgage applicants.


November 24, 2023

Washington, D.C.  – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) is heading to Houston, Texas, this Monday as part of the CHC on the Road initiative to engage with Latinos across the region. In Houston, CHCChairNanette Barragán (CA-44) will join CHC Whip Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29)in hosting Vice President of the United States of America Kamala Harris for a community conversation at a local health department center.


The Economic Development and Workforce Task Force is focused on creating economic opportunities for Latinos and Americans across the country. Additionally the Task Force focuses on issues impacting the Latino workforce.
