WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairwoman Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham and the leadership of the CHC sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Schumer urging them to work swiftly on a fair and bipartisan bill that permanently protects Dreamers.
As the Members stated in the letter, "It is critical that the Senate work to find a permanent solution for Dreamers as soon as possible. Every day Congress fails to address DACA it results in more DACA recipients losing their jobs and facing possible deportation."
They touted the broad, bipartisan Congressional support for Dreamers and added, "It is also critical that the Senate focus on a narrow solution.

Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) issued the following statement after voting against the budget agreement:
"It is unacceptable for Republicans to control every branch of government, yet continue to govern so recklessly.
"This budget caps bill was an opportunity to address all of our nation's most pressing issues, including ensuring that families had access to health care, communities affected by disasters received relief, and Dreamers were permanently protected.

Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) urges the House to oppose a budget caps bill that does not protect Dreamers:
CHC cannot support this budget caps bill that leaves Dreamers behind. We stand with nearly 90% of Americans that agree Dreamers should be protected.

Washington, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair (CHC) Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement after Republicans voted for the fifth time to pass a short-term spending bill:
"For the fifth time this Congress, President Trump and Congressional Republicans have decided to govern from crisis to crisis. I cannot enable this reckless conduct by voting for yet another continuing resolution. Continuing resolutions create uncertainty in our markets, hurt our national security, and inhibit the government's ability to work for the taxpayer.
"The American people are disserved by passing partisan, irresponsible legislation that the Senate has already rejected.

Washington, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) went to the House floor to offer a privileged resolution condemning the cruel, racist, and hateful behavior of Representative Paul Gosar (AZ-04) the day of the State of the Union.
On that day, Rep. Gosar requested that U.S. Capitol Police arrest and deport DACA recipients attending the State of the Union as guests of Members of Congress. The CHC Chair had previously released this statement on Rep. Gosar's reprehensible actions.

Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, released the following statement after reports that Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Christopher Coons (D-DE) would introduce the bipartisan Uniting and Securing America (USA) Act in the Senate. Like the House version, the Senate companion provides a permanent, legislative fix for DACA recipients and calls for smart border security measures.
"Democrats and Republicans stand united with the overwhelming majority of Americans who oppose deporting Dreamers.

Washington, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) issued the following statement in reaction to Rep. Paul Gosar's (AZ-04) request that U.S. Capitol Police arrest and deport young immigrants attending the State of the Union as guests of Members of Congress:
"Representative Gosar's actions to ask the U.S. Capitol Police to detain and deport Dreamers attending the State of the Union is an outright abuse of power. This cruel, racist, and hateful political stunt is intended to intimidate hopeful and determined Dreamers, who are learning, working, and contributing to the country that they love.

"Since the start of his Presidency, Trump has disregarded the immense contributions of immigrant families and Dreamers. Instead he has adopted rhetoric and policies that call into question their basic dignity and place in America.

Washington, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairwoman Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement in reaction to reports that conservative House members received a pledge from House Republican leadership to push H.R. 4760, a hard-line Republican-only immigration bill:
"The Mass Deportation Act is a farce of a bill. The bill undermines local law enforcement, it hurts farmers, hurts families, guts legal immigration; and aims to rip apart communities through mass deportation, while only providing Dreamers with temporary protections and no pathway to citizenship.
