WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairwoman Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham released an analysis of the Trump's Administration negative impact on the Hispanic community.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairwoman Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham, CHC Immigration Task Force Chair Rep. Luis V. Gutiérrez, and 18 members of the CHC sent a letter calling on the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Appropriations Committee. The signers ask the Appropriation's leaders to reject the President's proposed FY2017 supplemental budget request for an additional $3 billion to implement his executive orders on border security and interior immigration enforcement.

"The Trump Administration's lack of communication and transparency about its immigration priorities is leading to mass hysteria in communities across the nation. The Hispanic Caucus continues to advocate for clear answers and consistency from the administration so we can effectively represent our communities.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham introduced the "Build Bridges Not Walls Act," which would prohibit the implementation of President Trump's executive order to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border

"The people who know the border the best, whether it's companies or lawmakers, both Republicans and Democrats, border communities, trade groups, economists, and law enforcement officials, all agree that building a wall is unnecessary, impractical, ineffective, and a complete waste of time and taxpayer money," said Rep. Lujan Grisham. "This bill protects taxpayers by stopping the funding for a wall that is not needed and from any other attempts by the President to fund similar orders."

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Latina members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) released the following statements in observance of Latina Equal Pay Day, which raises awareness about the stark wage gap faced by Latina workers. For each dollar that their white male counterparts earn, Latinas are paid only 54 cents, leading to an estimated cumulative loss of around $1 million in potential income per Latina over a 40-year period. Latinas face the largest wage gap among all racial and ethnic groups.

Latina Equal Pay Day is observed on November 1 as that is the approximate date by which a Latina's pay would have caught up with that of white non-Hispanic men from the previous year. It takes the average Latina 22 months to earn the same amount that an average white man earns in 12 months.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus sent a letter to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady and Ranking Member Sander Levin urging them to oppose H.R. 4722, legislation that would require a Social Security number to claim the Child Tax Credit.

WASHINGTON – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) and the Puerto Rico Healthcare Crisis Coalition (PRHCC) invite members of the press to attend a briefing on the “Healthcare Challenges Facing Puerto Rico” on Tues., February 2^nd at 3pm at the Cannon House Office Building Room 234.

The healthcare situation in Puerto Rico has continued to deteriorate with hospital closures looming due to lack of funds, extreme wait times for patients to receive life-saving care, and doctors continuing to leave for better opportunities stateside. Congress needs to take immediate action to address Puerto Rico’s healthcare inequities, which are a key component of the Island’s growing unsustainable fiscal and humanitarian crisis.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairwoman Linda T. Sánchez and First Vice Chair Michelle Lujan Grisham marked the seventh anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. The Act allows women to challenge pay discrimination in court.

Last October, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Joint Economic Committee released a report on the economic state of the Latino community. According to the report:

· There are over 27 million Latinas in the United States, including 18.6 million Latinas who are 18 years or older.

· Latinas account for 7 percent of the total workforce and 15 percent of the female workforce.

· Latinas earn 55 cents for every dollar earned by a non-Hispanic white man.
