Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Members released the following statements on the Supreme Court’s 8-0 decision rejecting the one-person, one-vote rule. In the ruling, the Supreme Court determined that voting districts should continue to be drawn using census population data, and not changed to count only eligible-voting citizens.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus sent a letter to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady and Ranking Member Sander Levin urging them to oppose H.R. 4722, legislation that would require a Social Security number to claim the Child Tax Credit.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Members met with Secretary Tom Vilsack of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The meeting was held on Capitol Hill at the request of the Caucus. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has enormous implications for the Latino community, including its administration of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), as well as the National School Lunch Program.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) released the following statements condemning Speaker Paul Ryan’s announcement that House Republicans will force a vote on a resolution authorizing the filing of a legal brief that supports halting the President’s immigration executive actions. The Supreme Court is hearing United States v. Texas this term and by filing the brief, Republicans want to block the immigration executive actions from taking effect.
