Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) released the following statement announcing that the CHC will meet with President Barack Obama tomorrow morning to discuss immigration reform: "The Congressional Hispanic Caucus has long worked in a bi-partisan manner, as conveners, consensus builders and leaders in the fight to pass comprehensive immigration reform. President Barack Obama has been a great partner in the fight to reform of our broken immigration system."

CHC Chair Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) is proud to announce that Kristian Ramos is the Caucus’ new communications director. Kristian comes from NDN and the New Policy institute where he was the Director of the 21st Century Border Initiative where he forged partnerships with a broad coalition of Congressional, local and law enforcement officials and fulfilled a number of important communications roles.

CHC Chairman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) and Members of the CHC released the following statement in response to the historic passage of S. 744 the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill by a vote of 68-32.

"Today's decision by the Supreme Court to invalidate a key component of the Voting Rights Act is a major setback for all Americans. Since its inception, the VRA has protected the ability of every American to make their voice heard in the voting booth, and it is especially critical to the Latino community."

"Today's decision by the Supreme Court in Fisher vs. University of Texas affirms the importance of a diverse student body at our nation's universities."

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the bill would charge millions of students and families $3.7 billion over the next decade, in additional interest payments relative to current law.
