The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Leads Democrats in Demanding Accountability in Letter to Senator Thune and Speaker Johnson Following Assault Against Senator Padilla
"I am Sen. Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary," Padilla said to Noem, which prompted several men to physically push him out of the press conference. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus, of which Padilla is a member, also reacted to the situation on X, saying that it was "unacceptable."

Chairman Espaillat Congratulates Rep. Robert Garcia (CA-42) on Receiving the CHC's Endorsement to Lead House Oversight Democrats
Washington, D.C. – Washington, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairman Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement celebrating the CHC's endorsement of Rep. Robert Garcia to become ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there,” Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.), chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, said in an interview. “I have to study all the facts. This is not over yet, but it certainly hasn’t started out in a good way.”
“We write today to underscore our unequivocal support for any legal firm, organization, or individual lawyer that is unconstitutionally targeted by Trump’s Department of Justice. We stand with you because any attacks against you strike at the heart of what makes our nation just and free."
Barragán: People feel that it's unnecessary. They feel this is the administration taking over. And it is. This is a sign of a dictator who takes over a National Guard against the governor's will, [and] against all elected officials' will. The presence of the National Guard in itself is sending that message, "we're here to take you over."
“Today, ICE violated all of our rights,” Mr. Espaillat said on Sunday. “We deserve to know what’s going on the 10th floor.” He added, “If there’s nothing wrong, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to go in to see it.”
