ICYMI: Democratic Caucuses Demand Noem's Firing Outside ICE HQ in Washington

Washington, D.C. – TODAY, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the Chairs of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), Democratic Women's Caucus (DWC), Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), the New Democrat Coalition (NDC), and the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) led over 50 Members of the House Democratic Caucus to call for the firing of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem outside U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The Members also called out ongoing ICE abuses, including violations of due process, inhumane detention conditions, the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and the lack of meaningful accountability.

Democratic Members of Congress demanded Noem's firing and called out ICE's abuses outside of their Washington, D.C. headquarters this morning:

"When something doesn't work you take it apart. You make sure you put it in the trash and you buy new parts. And on the way there, the person leading the agency under whose watch we've seen atrocities including the shooting—the killing—of two U.S. citizens, should step down or be impeached," said Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. "The American people see ICE for what it is: An abusive agency that goes around our cities and neighborhoods threatening and terrorizing hard working families who want nothing more than to bring food to our table, take care of our children and elderly, and pay their taxes."

"Under Kristi Noem's DHS, ICE and CBP have turned fear into policy and cruelty into strategy. We all saw the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. But maybe you missed the video of ICE pinning down a pregnant woman—face-down in the snow—while an agent kneeled on her in Minnesota. That's all on camera, imagine what's happening behind closed doors," said Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03), Chair of the Democratic Women's Caucus. "In detention centers, women report being shackled and chained while miscarrying, women denied prenatal care, women deprived of food and water, and women sexually assaulted. One woman in detention was even repeatedly assaulted by an agent who would let her see photos with her daughter 'in exchange.' Kristi Noem is the ringleader of this campaign of cruelty. She has to go. It's a matter of life or death for women."

"No federal agency—and especially not ICE—gets to operate above the law. But that is exactly what is happening under Kristi Noem's failed leadership, and she has got to go," said Congresswoman Grace Meng (NY-06), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus. "No matter whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or Independent, we can all agree that what we are seeing is a betrayal of our American values we hold dear. The lawlessness must end—and it must end now."

"Donald Trump's mass deportation machine is tearing families and communities apart. He promised to go after the 'worst of the worst'—and instead he's shackling college students, arresting veterans, and putting five-year-olds in jail. Democrats are united and demanding an end to Kristi Noem's reign of terror at DHS, and an end to Trump's cruel immigration policies that threaten the constitutional rights of every American," said Congressman Greg Casar (TX-35), Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

"Rather than making our communities safer, Secretary Noem and her minions are making us all less secure—in our homes, our schools, our houses of worship, our parks, and our public places," said Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10), Chair of the New Democrat Coalition. "Noem has not only facilitated the violence in our communities, she has also encouraged it. She has defended it. And she has lied about it—slandering brave Americans to cover up for the crimes of this Administration. We need Kristi Noem out."

"Like so many Americans, we are outraged by what we are witnessing. We have watched our neighbors terrorized and brutalized. We have seen innocent Americans killed in cold blood by masked ICE agents who believe they are above the law—agents funded by American taxpayer dollars—yet apparently accountable to no one," said Congresswoman Lucy McBath (GA-06), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Second Vice Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. "The presence of ICE in our communities is not about public safety. It is about stoking fear, silencing peaceful dissent, and turning Americans against one another. This depravity starts at the top, and Kristi Noem must be held accountable. She must resign or face impeachment."

"I want to take a moment to tell you about my constituent, Diana Crespo. Diana is seven years old. She loves to paint. She loves to play with her friends. Last month, she had a fever and her nose wouldn't stop bleeding. Like any concerned parent with a sick kid would do, her mom and dad took her to urgent care. They never made it inside to see a doctor. Instead, federal agents swarmed their car in the parking lot and abducted them. A friend said the parents were pleading with the agents, begging to just let them take their kid to see a doctor. Now they are at a detention facility with an active measles outbreak," said Congresswoman Maxine Dexter (OR-03). "This is part of a terror campaign designed to punish families, traumatize children, and scare entire communities into disappearing. We can choose a different path. We can build a country that leads with compassion instead of cruelty. That starts with impeaching Kristi Noem."

"We all know Liam Conejo Ramos' name. We don't know the names of the 3,800 other children detained by ICE," said Congressman Sam Liccardo (CA-16). "We know about the horrific shooting of two American citizens in Minneapolis. What don't we know that isn't being filmed?"

"Over 180 Members of Congress from swing to deep blue districts support my impeachment articles against Secretary Kristi Noem as she's brought her reign of terror city to city," said Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02). "She used the footage of a Chicago apartment raid in a promotional video as if it was a movie trailer—but this is real life, and real lives are being destroyed. Secretary Noem is dangerous, incompetent, and a shame to our democracy. She must be impeached."

"We have two neighbors, two of my constituents, who were shot by federal agents as cameras recorded, and their president maligned their names and told us not to believe our eyes," said Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (MN-05). "When we say it is time for Kristi Noem to go, we mean it now. If she does not resign and the president doesn't fire her, Democrats are ready and willing to impeach her."

"What we're witnessing in our cities is state sponsored violence. Since Trump returned to power, at least 36 people have died in ICE custody and 3 have been shot and killed by DHS agents. These are not just numbers; they are people with families. Democrats must hold strong and block any new funding for DHS without concrete reforms that will actually keep people safe," said Congressional Progressive Caucus Whip Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04).

"I represent communities in New Jersey that are terrified to step outside, send their kids to school, or go grocery shopping because of the harassment of ICE and DHS. When I stood up to protect them, Kristi Noem tried to shame, embarrass, and smear me. The administration is trying to put me in prison. I am not ashamed of doing my job and I won't be intimidated. In my own community, in communities across the country, people have died under DHS's watch—Kristi is the one who ought to be ashamed," said Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (NJ-10). "I have seen with my own eyes the brutal cruelty of the ICE facilities that she has tried to keep members of Congress out of, and I know enough to say that Noem must go."

"As women leaders, we refuse to normalize cruelty or excuse abuse of power. Secretary Noem's failure to lead DHS has had deadly consequences, deaths, beatings, and racially targeted violence under her watch," said Congresswoman Norma Torres (CA-35). "Obstructing Congress and denying accountability is not leadership. It is complicity, and it is an assault on our Constitution and the rule of law."

Washington, D.C. – HOY, martes 3 de febrero de 2026, los presidentes del Caucus Hispano del Congreso (CHC), el Caucus de Mujeres Demócratas (DWC por sus siglas en inglés), el Caucus Negro del Congreso (CBC por sus siglas en inglés), el Caucus Asiático-Americano y de las Islas del Pacífico del Congreso (CAPAC por sus siglas en inglés), la New Democrat Coalition (NDC) y el Caucus Progresista del Congreso (CPC por sus siglas en inglés) encabezaron a más de 50 miembros del Caucus Demócrata de la Cámara de Representantes para exigir la destitución de la Secretaria de Seguridad Interior Kristi Noem frente a la sede de Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) en Washington, D.C.

Los miembros también denunciaron los abusos continuos de ICE, incluyendo las violaciones al debido proceso, las condiciones inhumanas de detención, la muerte de Renee Good y Alex Pretti, y la falta de rendición de cuentas.

"Bajo el DHS de Kristi Noem, ICE y CBP han convertido el miedo en política pública y la crueldad en estrategia. Todos vimos las muertes de Renee Good y Alex Pretti. Pero quizás se perdieron el video de ICE sometiendo a una mujer embarazada, boca abajo en la nieve, mientras un agente se le arrodillaba encima en Minnesota. Todo eso quedó grabado en cámara; imagínense lo que está pasando tras puertas cerradas," dijo la Congresista Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03), Presidenta del Caucus de Mujeres Demócratas. "En los centros de detención, hay mujeres que reportan haber sido esposadas y encadenadas mientras sufrían un aborto espontáneo, mujeres a las que se les negó atención prenatal, mujeres privadas de comida y agua, y mujeres agredidas sexualmente. Una mujer detenida fue agredida repetidamente por un agente que le permitía ver fotos de su hija 'a cambio.' Kristi Noem es la cabecilla de esta campaña de crueldad. Tiene que irse. Es un asunto de vida o muerte para las mujeres."
