Congressional Hispanic Caucus Statement on Zero Tolerance Policy Inspector General Report
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) released the following statement on the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General report on the Trump Administration's zero tolerance policy:
"This state-sponsored, inhumane, intentional, and cruel policy of causing terror and hurting children as a form of punishment and deterrence for asylum-seeking migrants is a crime against humanity, and is counter to all international humanitarian principles," Ruiz said. "The entire Trump loyalist administration that sat by and watched the horror inflicted on children is complicit and will forever be remembered for their crime."
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), founded in December 1976, is organized as a Congressional Member organization, governed under the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives. The CHC is dedicated to voicing and advancing, through the legislative process, issues affecting Hispanics in the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Territories.
