Congressional Hispanic Caucus Leadership Condemns Kristi Noem Illegally Targeting DACA Recipients

Washington, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) leadership strongly condemns DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's arbitrary and opaque targeting of DACA recipients by immigration enforcement agencies.
"We are outraged by the recent confirmation that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is arresting and deporting DACA recipients. These actions tear families apart, damage communities, impose needless social, emotional, and economic burdens, and waste taxpayer dollars.
The Trump administration has once again led the United States government to go back on its word. DACA was a promise made with the full faith of the United States – like it or not, DACA is a policy covered by Trump's oath to protect and defend the Constitution.
That is the rule of law.
Secretary Noem claimed that 241 of the 261 DACA recipients arrested had ‘criminal histories,’ but she failed to provide further details.
That is not the rule of law.
Despite Trump's decade of disparagement against immigrants, Americans have consistently supported DACA beneficiaries. We all know these facts: DACA beneficiaries are people who, put in a difficult situation, came out and trusted the government to do the right thing. They did everything right, knowing the risks.
Is this how Donald Trump and Kristi Noem reward honesty, civic virtue, and courage? We demand detailed information on any criminal allegations used to detain and deport DACA beneficiaries.”

El liderazgo del Caucus Hispano del Congreso rechaza la persecución ilegal de beneficiarios de DACA por parte del a Secretaria Noem
Washington, D.C. – El liderazgo del Caucus Hispano del Congreso (CHC) rechaza la persecución arbitraria y opaca de beneficiarios de DACA por parte de la Secretaria Kristi Noem y las agencias de implementación de leyes migratorias.
"Estamos indignados por los reportes recientemente confirmados que el Departamento de Seguridad Interior (DHS por sus siglas en inglés) está arrestando y deportando beneficiarios de DACA. Estas acciones separan familias, dañan comunidades, imponen cargas sociales, emocionales y económicas, y desperdician recursos fiscales.
La administración Trump una vez más ha llevado al gobierno de los Estados Unidos a deshonrar su palabra. DACA fue una promesa basada en la buena fe de los Estados Unidos -- les guste o no, DACA es una política pública protegida por el juramento del Presidente Trump a defender y proteger la Constitución.
Eso es el estado de derecho.
La Secretaria Noem dijo que 241 de los 261 beneficiarios de DACA bajo arresto tenían 'historial criminal,' pero se rehusó a aportar más detalles.
