CHC Statement on Revoking Title 42
"Using the pandemic as an excuse to keep implementing the Trump Title 42 policy—that has prevented millions of asylum seekers from refuge—must end. COVID cases and transmission rates are down, tests with quarantine protocols exists, and vaccines are readily available. Title 42 must end now," said Dr. Ruiz. "Whether fleeing for your life from Putin's army in Ukraine, or drug cartels and gangs in Central America, all refugees must have the opportunity to seek asylum without fear of being expelled back to the exact dangers from which they fled. The CHC urges the Biden Administration to build on its efforts to create a professional, humane immigration system; strengthen our legal pathways for immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers; and to fully revoke Title 42. We must work to end xenophobic policies from the prior administration, based on hate and fear, that do not reflect our American values."
