CHC Stands with American Families Following Ruling on Executive Orders
WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Leadership issued the following statement in response to the recent decision by a federal judge in Texas that found President Biden’s Parole-in-Place Executive Orders that would protect non-citizen spouses of U.S. citizens and their non-citizen children, exceeded his executive authority.
“This ruling is deeply disappointing. It will only exacerbate the uncertainty and anxiety hundreds-of-thousands of immigrants in the U.S. are experiencing and highlights the challenges that remain to keep American families together. Families who have spent years building their lives here deserve to stay together, free from the fear of separation. CHC Leadership is deeply thankful to the Biden-Harris Administration for their efforts to protect family unity through their support of non-citizen spouses and children of U.S. citizens who call this country home and trust that the Administration will appeal this decision.
Our broken immigration system continues to lead to hardship and uncertainty for so many immigrant and mixed-status families, and that needs to change. The CHC is committed to common-sense solutions to secure our border, protect immigrants, and allow families to stay together. These families contribute greatly to the American economy and enrich our communities each and every day.
The Keeping Families Together Parole-in-Place program is a CHC priority, and we will continue to work alongside advocates and millions of immigrant families to fully implement this policy and keep families united."
