CHC Chair Barragán and Leadership Celebrate the Start of Hispanic Heritage Month 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, on the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month, Representative Nanette Barragán (CA-44), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) and CHC leadership issued the following statement in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month.

“Today marks the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month – a month-long celebration dedicated to empowering, uplifting, and recognizing our Hispanic heritage. During this month, America unites to honor the significant contributions Hispanics have made to enrich our nation’s history and to illuminate the major role Hispanic youth will play in America’s future

It’s a special time to recognize our roots and embrace the unique backgrounds and perspectives of our diverse Hispanic communities. From the highest levels of government, entertainment, sports, and business to our hospitals, fields, and essential service industries – Hispanic representation makes America better. We continue to make significant strides and reach new milestones, but we can’t ignore that more work must be done to continue empowering our community.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, let us celebrate Hispanic excellence, uplift our brothers and sisters, and recommit ourselves to creating permanent change that further improves the lives of 62 million Hispanic Americans and the legacy of Hispanic culture that runs deep throughout the fabric of the nation.

¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana!”
