U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Chair Convenes with CHC Staff 

Washington, D.C. —  Yesterday, staff from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus met with Chair Rochelle Garza of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights for a follow-up discussion regarding a formal request submitted by Members in September.

The conversation focused on ongoing civil rights concerns related to recent immigration enforcement actions and constitutional protections. CHC staff emphasized the importance of independent oversight, accountability, and safeguarding the civil liberties of all communities.

Representatives from the offices of Chair Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Senator Alex Padilla, Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03), Norma Torres (CA-35), Joaquín Castro (TX-20), Andrea Salinas (OR-06), Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), Lou Correa (CA-46), Raul Ruiz (CA-29), Henry Cuellar (TX-28), Greg Casar (TX-35), Linda Sánchez (CA-38), and Gil Cisneros (CA-31) were in attendance, along with CHC staff.

The Caucus remains committed to ensuring that federal policies and enforcement actions uphold constitutional protections and protect the rights and dignity of the communities they impact.

La Presidenta de la Comisión de Derechos Civiles de Estados Unidos se Reúne con el Personal del CHC

Washington, D.C. — Ayer, personal del Caucus Hispano del Congreso se reunió con la presidenta Rochelle Garza de la Comisión de Derechos Civiles de Estados Unidos para darle seguimiento a una solicitud formal sometida por varios Miembros en septiembre.

La conversación se centró en preocupaciones continuas sobre los derechos civiles relacionadas con recientes acciones de cumplimiento migratorio y las protecciones constitucionales. El personal del CHC destacó la importancia de una supervisión independiente, la rendición de cuentas y la protección de las libertades civiles de todas las comunidades.
