Washington, D.C. – Chair Dr. Raul Ruiz issued the following statement:

"The dreams of 51 individuals in pursuit of safety, security, and a better life were cut short in San Antonio. Words cannot describe the horror of this tragedy. No one in search of refuge should have to make this dangerous journey. We pray for the recovery of the survivors and the families of the victims. The CHC will monitor the investigation closely and remain focused on holding all those responsible for this crime accountable."
