CHC Chair Statement on SCOTUS Declining Trump Administration Appeal over DACA

DACA Recipients Need Narrow, Permanent Legislative Solution
Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement after the Supreme Court of the United States announced that it would decline to hear DHS v. UC Regents, the California case that resulted in an injunction temporarily reinstating DACA renewals:
"Today's decision means that current DACA recipients can continue to submit DACA renewal applications as long as the 9th circuit injunction remains in place. However, DACA recipients will continue to face uncertainty until Republicans and Trump can agree to a fair and narrow bipartisan solution for Dreamers. Not only do nearly 9 in 10 Americans believe that Dreamers should stay in the United States, but so do employers, universities, military and law enforcement officials, and the faith community. A narrow, bipartisan bill that offers an earned path to citizenship and certainty for Dreamers who are dutifully contributing to our nation has the votes to pass Congress."
