CHC CHAIR ON LATINO JOBLESS NUMBERS IN NOVEMBER
Washington D.C.: Chairman Charles A. Gonzalez (TX 20) released this statement responding to the November jobs report distributed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics today:
“Any reduction in the number of unemployed Americans is welcomed news, though it is deeply disappointing that the jobs crisis remained unchanged for Latinos. The Hispanic community, as the fastest growing minority population, will make up a third of the national work force by 2050. There is no doubt that contributions of Latinos will be a major factor in the economic success of our country in the years to come.
“What remains clear is that President Obama and Democrats have pro-economic growth proposals that Republicans are refusing to debate. Substantial improvement on the scale that is necessary will not be realized until the President’s jobs bill in its entirety is considered and passed.”
