CHC Chair Espaillat Condemns Alleged Use of Chemical Agents in Delaney Hall Immigration Detention Center
Washington, D.C. — Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) issued the following statement regarding reports of the use of chemical agents within the Delaney Hall Detention Center.
"Reports from Delaney Hall today are deeply disturbing.
Just yesterday, I conducted an oversight visit at the facility. The allegations that within hours of that visit there may have been use of chemical agents inside housing units, injuries to detained individuals, and inadequate medical response require immediate clarification and investigation.
I am demanding immediate medical evaluation for anyone impacted, full accounting of what occurred, and preservation of all relevant records, including video and incident reports.
These allegations must be investigated without delay, and accountability will be required where standards were violated."

Washington, D.C. — El presidente del Caucus Hispano del Congreso (CHC), el representante Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), emitió la siguiente declaración respecto de los reportes sobre el uso de agentes químicos dentro del centro de detención Delaney Hall.
"Los informes de Delaney Hall de hoy son profundamente perturbadores.
Tan solo ayer realicé una visita de supervisión a la instalación. Las imputaciones de que pocas horas después de esa visita pueden haber sido utilizados agentes químicos dentro de las unidades de vivienda, causando lesiones a personas detenidas y una respuesta médica inadecuada, exigen una aclaración e investigación inmediatas.
Exijo una evaluación médica inmediata para cualquier persona afectada, una rendición de cuentas completa de lo ocurrido y la preservación de todos los registros pertinentes, incluyendo videos e informes de incidentes.
Estas alegaciones deben investigarse sin demora, y se exigirá rendición de cuentas donde se hayan violado los estándares establecidos."
