CHC Chair Barragán Statement on Biden Administration Extending TPS Status to Venezuela
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Nanette Barragán (CA-44), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), released the following statement on the Biden Administration redesignating Venezuela for Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
“We applaud the Biden administration’s decision to grant an extension and redesignation of TPS for Venezuela. This affirmative step will ensure the physical and economic well-being of thousands of displaced Venezuelans who already live in America. The Administration’s announcement is a massive victory for individuals fleeing violence, persecution, and political instability. With this redesignation, these migrants are now safe from deportation for now and can continue working to support themselves and their loved ones. The CHC has long advocated for migrants who face extraordinary conditions and are unable to return to their countries safely. We are grateful to the Biden Administration for heeding our call. We will continue to work with the Administration to deliver positive change within our immigration system.”
