Washington, D.C. — Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) released the following statement after receiving no response from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-04) to a request to join the House Judiciary Committee's oversight hearing with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem:
"Chairman Jordan's refusal to allow meaningful oversight is a feature, not a glitch. I am not surprised, given the history of his rise to power, that he would obfuscate to protect corruption, malfeasance and cruelty.
Chairman Jordan did not even have the decency to respond to my request to join the House Judiciary Committee's oversight hearing with Secretary Kristi Noem. As they say, no answer is an answer, and this one speaks volumes.
At a time when immigrant families are facing life-altering decisions from this administration, the least Chairman Jordan can do is allow full and fair oversight."

El Presidente Espaillat se pronuncia sobre el bloqueo republicano contra la supervisión oficial de las políticas migratorias
Washington, D.C. — El presidente del Caucus Hispano del Congreso, Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) emitió el siguiente comunicado dado que no recibió respuesta del Presidente del Comité Judicial Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-04) a su solicitud de ser tomado en cuenta para participar en la audiencia de supervisión en el Comité Judicial de la Cámara de Representantes con la Secretaria de Seguridad Interior Kristi Noem:
"El rechazo del Presidente Jordan a permitir supervisión significativa no es casualidad. No sorprende, dado su historial político, que usara la opacidad para proteger la corrupción, delincuencia y crueldad.
El Presidente Jordan no tuvo siquiera la decencia de dignarse a responder a mi solicitud para integrarme a la audiencia de supervisión del Comité Judicial de la Cámara de Representantes con la Secretaria Kristi Noem. Dicen que la falta de respuesta es una respuesta en sí, y esta habla por sí misma.
En un momento en que las familias inmigrantes enfrentan decisiones de vida o muerte impuestas por esta administración, lo menos que podría hacer el Presidente Jordan sería permitir la supervisión legislativa plena y justa."
