WASHINGTON—Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), Chairman Elect of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, this evening released the following statement in response to the tragic death of a seven-year-old in U.S. CBP custody:

"On Tuesday, December 18th, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus will lead a delegation to Lordsburg Station in Lordsburg, New Mexico to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of seven-year-old Jakelin Amei Rosmery Caal Maquin. Any Members of Congress interested in attending, please contact the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. This is not who we are or who we want to be as a nation.
