HISPANIC CAUCUS ON CESAR CHAVEZ DAY
Washington, DC- Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) released the following statement in honor of Cesar Chavez Day.
"Cesar E. Chavez is a national hero whose legacy remains stronger than ever. He is one of our most recognized and cherished Latino leaders who fought for justice and equality. A World War II veteran, Cesar Chavez founded the United Farm Workers (UFW) with the help of civil rights activist Dolores Huerta. Together, they successfully led a non-violent movement to obtain fair pay and workers' rights for all farmworkers.
Cesar Chavez's legacy will never be forgotten, and today, we honor him and the profound contributions he made. Let us continue to honor his legacy by heeding the call to renew unemployment benefits, raising the minimum wage and enacting comprehensive immigration reform."
