It is a truly great day when such a dedicated civil servant is elevated to such an important and prominent position within President Barack Obama's Cabinet."
First Vice Chair Ben Ray Luján (NM-03): "I congratulate Tom Perez on his confirmation to serve as Secretary of the Department of Labor. As a dedicated public servant with a distinguished record of standing up for working families and advocating for the rights of all Americans – especially the most vulnerable – Mr. Perez will build on his efforts to strengthen middle-class families and open the door of opportunity for hard-working people. Tom Perez’s story is the story of so many across this great country. As the son of immigrants, he worked hard, recognized the value of education, and sought to build a stronger community through public service. Mr. Perez will head the Department at an important time as we work to grow our economy and get people back to work. In him, I know the American people will have a true champion who will strive every day to support working men and women."
