WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Raul Ruiz M.D. (CA-36) released the following statement regarding the Rittenhouse Trial verdict:
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) condemns vigilantism and demands accountability for the killing of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber. Today's disappointing acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse is a clear indication that it is past time for the Senate to take up House-passed criminal justice reform and common-sense gun violence reform legislation, including bills that address gun law loopholes and require background checks on all gun sales and transfers to protect American lives.
We are not deterred by today's verdict. The CHC will continue to fight to ensure these life-saving and commonsense measures get signed into law.
