WASHINGTON, D.C. –Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Dr. Raul Ruiz issues the following statement after the Senate Parliamentarian's latest decision on the immigration provisions included in the Build Back Better Act, which would offer long-term work permits and deportation protections for millions of undocumented immigrants:
"The CHC is deeply disappointed with the Senate parliamentarian's decision tonight but we remain undeterred," said Chair Dr. Ruiz. "We will move forward and continue working with the Senate to use every tool and avenue in the Senate rules to include immigration reform in the Build Back Better Act.
"Immigrants are sustaining our country through the ongoing pandemic as essential workers, and are vital to our economic recovery. The CHC will not stop fighting for immigration reform that will boost our economy."
