WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) released the following statement on the Build Back Better Act negotiations:

“It is critical that the Senate swiftly pass the Build Back Better Act. This landmark legislation, which House CHC Members unanimously voted to advance, will help Hispanic families succeed, lift children out of poverty, strengthen the middle class and enable parents to go back to work.

“We cannot delay passage of this vital bill for Hispanic communities, which continue to be disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with higher rates of infections, hospitalizations, deaths and lower vaccination rates. The CHC will continue to work with the Senate to use every tool and avenue within the Senate rules to include immigration reform in the final package and we remain committed to getting this bill signed into law.”

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), founded in December 1976, is organized as a Congressional Member organization, governed under the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives. The CHC is dedicated to voicing and advancing, through the legislative process, issues affecting Hispanics in the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Territories.
