Congressional Hispanic Caucus Calls on Biden Administration to Extend Eviction Moratorium

August 2, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Raul Ruiz, M.D. is calling on the Biden Administration to use all of its available resources to extend the eviction moratorium:

"The COVID-19 pandemic delivered a devastating financial blow to Hispanic families—as well as many other Americans—straining their ability to afford basic needs like housing," said Chair Dr. Ruiz. "As the rapidly spreading Delta variant increases infection rates throughout the country, we must continue to protect families from losing their homes. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) urges President Biden to immediately extend the eviction moratorium. Presidential action is the fastest and most effective way to protect families from eviction and to keep them safely housed. The CHC is ready to work with our colleagues, the Biden Administration, and states and localities to deliver much-needed rental assistance to families across America, but in the meantime, we hope the Administration will take this essential first step."
