WASHINGTON D.C. – Yesterday, Department of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin published the Department’s Countering Extremist Activity Working Group’s (CEAWG) review of the Department’s recommendations and new guidelines to counter extremist activities within the military. Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) released the following statement:

Earlier this year, the CHC expressed our strong concern of rising extremism within the ranks of our military to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and urged action," said Chair Dr. Ruiz. “We’re glad the DOD has responded with a strong commitment to tackle white supremacy and we stand ready to work with former CHC Member and current Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel Readiness, Gil Cisneros, to implement these important rules.”

Earlier this Congress, CHC’s Leadership sent a letter to Secretary Austin expressing concerns about extremism within the United States military.
