Congressional Hispanic Caucus: ACA Repeal is a Serious Threat to Our Community
Washington, D.C. — Today the Congressional Hispanic Caucus hosted a press conference inside the Capitol to talk about the impact of repealing the Affordable Care Act, particularly in the Hispanic community. Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) and numerous members of the Caucus shared stories about working men and women whose lives have been saved thanks to their access to healthcare.
"Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a replacement will allow discrimination against women and people with pre-existing conditions. It will kick kids off their parents' policies, reinstitute lifetime caps on care and remove millions from the Medicaid roll. The Republican repeal and delay plan does nothing to address the problems of out-of-pocket costs, network access or the influence of insurance companies and pharmaceuticals in the market. Instead, Republicans are trying to remove protections for the very people who need access to care. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus gathered today to share the stories of Hispanic families who have benefited from having coverage and to emphasize the human cost of repealing the ACA," said CHC Chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham.
