CHC Statement on the Passing of Representative Sheila Jackson Lee

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair (CHC) Nanette Barragán (CA-44) issued the following statement on behalf of CHC Members on the passing of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

"Today, CHC joins the people of Houston, our CBC colleagues, and the countless individuals whose lives were touched by Sheila Jackson Lee in mourning her passing.

For decades, Sheila relentlessly fought for Texans and people of color across America and never wavered in doing what she believed was best for the public.

A champion for social justice, a defender of women’s rights, and an essential advocate in the Tri-Caucus’ mission to empower minority and underserved communities, Sheila and her courageous spirit will be dearly missed.
