February 27, 2014

Washington, DC- Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) released the following statement on the retirement of Congressman Ed Pastor (AZ-07).

"Congressman Ed Pastor will be leaving an indelible mark on Congress and on Arizona's 7th congressional district. He is a close personal friend who I will miss, and I wish him and his family continued success on this next step.

Among his numerous accomplishments, Congressman Pastor served on the House Appropriations Committee and championed a host of important issues ranging from education to immigration and transportation. Throughout his years of service in Congress, he fought hard for working families, students and seniors.

Congressman Ed Pastor is the first Latino congressman from the state of Arizona. In the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Congressman Pastor served as Chairman during the 104th Congress and is currently the second-longest serving CHC Member. On behalf of the Hispanic Caucus, I thank him for his extraordinary leadership and service."

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), founded in December 1976, is organized as a Congressional Member organization, governed under the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives. The CHC is dedicated to voicing and advancing, through the legislative process, issues affecting Hispanics in the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Territories.
