CHC ON BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC):

"We celebrate the influence and contributions of the African-American community by marking February as Black History Month, but the legacy of those who have indelibly shaped our country's destiny must be honored each day. This year it is particularly important to reflect on the inroads African-Americans have made toward expanding the American dream to all Americans. 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
