CHC Goes on the Road to Austin, Texas for the Launch of Biden Administration’s Latino Prosperity Tour

March 7, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) is heading to Austin, Texas this Saturday as part of the CHC on the Road initiative to engage Latinos year-round on what Congress and the Biden Administration have delivered for their communities, educate communities about the resources that have been made available, and discuss ongoing work to lift-up Latino communities across the country. In Austin, the CHC will partner with Small Business (SBA) Administrator Isabel Guzman and U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona to launch the Administration's Latino Prosperity Tour.

The tour is being led by SBA Administrator Guzman, the highest-ranking Latino official on the economy in President Biden's Cabinet. Guzman will be touring the country with fellow Cabinet members to highlight the work of the Biden-Harris Administration to support, uplift, and invest in Latino communities, as well as underscore the Administration's ongoing commitment to expanding pathways to prosperity in Latino communities across the nation. The CHC will partner with the Administration throughout the tour to drive home the message that the Caucus, and Democrats in Congress, continue to work every day to provide a brighter future for Latinos.

"We are excited to bring the CHC to Austin during South by Southwest to join the Biden Administration in engaging the large, and growing, Latino community in Texas to let them know what Congress has been doing to help uplift their communities," said Chair Nanette Barragán. "The CHC on the Road events serve as a platform to connect with our communities, to listen to their concerns, and to let them know about the tools and resources available for success. Partnering with the SBA and the U.S. Department of Education to launch the Latino Prosperity tour together, sends a clear message that the Administration and the CHC are all-in to engage Latino communities across the country year-round. We look forward to having Administrator Guzman and Secretary Cardona with us and look forward to this collaborative effort to empower our communities."

"President Biden is investing in America, and this tour connects the Latino community to those federal investments – meeting people everywhere they are to turn their possibilities into reality," said SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman. "For the Latino community, entrepreneurship is a pathway to prosperity, to successful community outcomes, and generational wealth building. As the daughter of a small business owner, and as an entrepreneur myself, I have seen first-hand the difference that access to resources and support can have. That is why I am thrilled to lead this effort on behalf of the Biden-Harris Administration, and look forward to hitting the road with my fellow Cabinet members, members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and senior leadership over these next few months."

"Since Day One, the Biden-Harris administration has shown our commitment to supporting America's Latino communities," said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. "Thanks to President Biden's leadership, we have a record number of Latinos serving the American people in the Cabinet and leading federal agencies. This administration has provided unprecedented resources to support the 14 million Latino students learning in our K-12 classrooms and to our nation's Hispanic-Serving Institutions of higher education. Latino workers also have made significant gains under this administration. I am proud to kick off the Latino Prosperity tour to deepen intentional partnerships that move the Latino community forward and to leverage strong Congressional actions that will keep delivering historic federal investments that empower Latino families and communities to build generational wealth and prosperity."

"I'm proud that the Biden Administration is kicking off their Latino Prosperity Tour in my district, in the heart of Texas," saidCHC member Rep. Greg Casar. "Democrats are working to make sure that wherever you are black, white, or brown, working Texans and small businesses can get ahead."
