FULL REMARKS
"Hello. I'm Congressman Rubén Hinojosa, Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
March is Women's History Month, a time during which we honor the contributions women have made. Across the United States, women like Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Dolores Huerta and my female colleagues here in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus are making history. Women are breaking barriers and opening doors of opportunities for others through their extraordinary leadership.
With over 25 million Latinas in the United States, the CHC and House Democrats are committed to helping women succeed. My colleagues and I are fighting to raise the minimum wage, extend unemployment benefits, and pass comprehensive immigration reform. We want our mothers, daughters and colleagues to have equal pay. And we believe in shattering glass ceilings once and for all.
This Women's History Month, let's work together to address these issues because when women succeed, America succeeds."
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), founded in December 1976, is organized as a Congressional Member organization, governed under the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives. The CHC is dedicated to voicing and advancing, through the legislative process, issues affecting Hispanics in the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Territories.
