CHC Chair Statement on the Historic Bipartisan Safer Communities Act

Washington, D.C.– Chair Dr. Raul Ruiz issued the following statement:

"Gun violence has shattered families and broken apart communities across the country. Today, Democrats and Republicans came together to take meaningful action to address this epidemic," said Chair Dr. Ruiz. "While the legislation does not address all that we must do to prevent senseless gun violence, it is a step in the right direction—a step toward justice for families exasperated from years of inaction. Thoughts and prayers are never enough, which is why, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus will continue to support and push for legislation that builds safer, stronger communities."
