CHC Chair Statement on FY2023 Omnibus

December 23, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives passed the FY 2023 bipartisan omnibus package to invest heavily in families and workers, honor our veterans, and strengthen democracy at home and abroad. The bill incorporates many of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Members' legislative priorities, and after passage, CHC Chair Raul Ruiz, M.D. issued the following statement:

"The government spending package passed includes substantial wins for Hispanic communities. Thanks to the tireless work of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) and its Members, we will see increased funding for Hispanic and minority-owned businesses; expansion of educational aid for Hispanic students; investments in critical public health and nutritional programs; and the defeat of efforts to keep and expand the outdated Title-42 public health policy," said Chair Dr. Ruiz. "The spending bill will also ensure families continue to remain in safe, stable, and affordable housing while mitigating the harmful effects of climate change. We look forward to lowering costs for working families and will not stop our fight to ensure a pathway to citizenship for those who help keep our economy and communities running."
