CHC CHAIR GONZALEZ STATEMENT ON WHITE HOUSE MEETING WITH STAKEHOLDERS ON IMMIGRATION
(Washington, DC) - Congressman Charles A. Gonzalez, Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, released the following statement after President Obama met with a broad group of business, law enforcement, faith, and former and current elected leaders to discuss how to tackle our nation’s broken immigration system:
"The Congressional Hispanic Caucus commends President Obama for bringing a diverse group of leaders together to lend their support to legislative efforts for comprehensive immigration reform. The CHC has previously suggested to the White House that they create a broad coalition of business leaders, clergy and community leaders who recognize the need for Congress to act, and we hope this group will bring their voices to Capitol Hill. The CHC continues to work with the White House in pursuing much needed immigration reform that is in the best economic interest of our nation. More importantly we look forward to our upcoming meeting with the President to discuss administrative action which can immediately address the most grievous shortcomings of our broken immigration system."
