Washington D.C. — Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chair Nanette Barragán issued a statement on Representative Grace Napolitano’s (CA-31) retirement announcement.

“For nearly four decades, Rep. Napolitano has been an unwavering champion for Latinos, vulnerable communities, and families across California and America,” said Chair Barragán. “She is a remarkable and deeply admired leader in Congress, serving as the highest-ranking California Member and Hispanic on the U.S. House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure, where she spearheaded massive victories that enriched the lives of everyday Americans. A relentless advocate for Democratic principles, she fought to expand mental health services, reduce gun violence, find solutions for water needs, and strengthen conservation efforts for future generations. As the second Congresswoman to serve as Chair in the CHC’s history, she also built on the caucus’ mission of improving the lives of Latinos across the country. Her commitment to public service will benefit millions of Americans for decades to come, and her legacy will shine bright within the halls of Congress. I wish Rep. Napolitano all the best in her future endeavors following her retirement at the end of this term in 2024, but I look forward to working alongside her until then.”
