CHC Chair Barragán, First Lady Jill Biden, Reps. Wild, Velázquez Going on the Road to Allentown, Pennsylvania
WASHINGTON, DC — The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) is back on the road to Allentown, Pennsylvania, this Tuesday for their next CHC on the Road visit to engage with local Latino communities. In Allentown, CHC Chair Nanette Barragán (CA-44) and Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (NY-07) will join Rep. Susan Wild (PA-07) in hosting First Lady Jill Biden to discuss the tools and resources available to support education and workforce development across the Greater Lehigh Valley.
"The Congressional Hispanic Caucus has been on the road across America to make sure we are engaging with Latinos year-round,” said CHC Chair Barragán. “Allentown’s population is more than 50% Latino, so our Caucus prioritized a trip to engage the city’s Latino residents for this CHC on the Road event with First Lady Jill Biden. We will meet with local community members and key stakeholders to let them know about the educational and workforce development resources that the Biden-Harris administration and Democrats in Congress have delivered and made available and accessible to communities throughout America. I am thankful to Rep. Susan Wild for extending us a warm welcome to her district.”
"I'm honored to welcome First Lady -- and Pennsylvania native! -- Jill Biden to Allentown next week, and look forward to engaging in a productive and meaningful conversation about all the education and workforce opportunities we have to offer”, said Rep. Susan Wild. "I also want to extend my thanks to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and my colleagues, Reps. Nanette Barragán and Nydia Velázquez, who were instrumental in creating a space for our local Latino community to share their personal experiences and connect with local, state and federal leaders. I have always believed in the importance of meeting my constituents where they are at, which is why I’m proud to have multiple bilingual members of my staff who have helped secure needed relief for families in every corner of my district.”
“It’s an honor to travel to Allentown with CHC Chair Nanette Barragán and First Lady Jill Biden, and I thank Congresswoman Susan Wild for hosting us,” said Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez. “Allentown is majority Latino and home to a vibrant Puerto Rican community. The Biden-Harris administration and Congressional Democrats have prioritized supplying Americans with the education and skills they need to succeed in the modern economy. I look forward to discussing how people in Allentown and across the country benefit from these policies.”
This CHC on the Road stop will be the 11th visit the CHC has made this Congress to high-Latino populated localities.
