CHC Chair Barragán Celebrates Biden Student Loan Debt Forgiveness Plan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair (CHC) Nanette Barragán (CA-44) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s recently announced student loan debt forgiveness plan.

“President Biden’s student loan debt forgiveness plan has the power to alleviate the financial struggles of more than 25 million Americans, including many Latinos, who continue to suffer due to unsustainable amounts of student loans. In June 2023, CHC Members met with the White House to urge the Administration to explore viable student loan debt forgiveness plans. Urgently addressing the growing student loan crisis was the key focus throughout the conversation.

I’m proud that our advocacy to address crushing amounts of student loan debt is proving successful. CHC members are also thankful that the Biden-Harris administration remains committed to their promise to utilize every available tool to cancel student debt for as many borrowers as possible. 

CHC will continue to support President Biden and his Administration in the ongoing effort to ensure every student can pursue an education without facing unjustifiable financial burdens.”
