Chairman Hinojosa Statement On The 50th Anniversary of The March on Washington

August 28, 2013

Washington, D.C. – Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) Chairman Ruben Hinojosa (TX-15) released the following statement today in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of The March on Washington.

Chairman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15): "The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom resonated far beyond the National Mall across this great land forever changing our country. Fifty years ago on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial Dr. King rightly said: ‘1963 is not an end but a beginning.’ Those words remain true today, but we still have work to do, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus is proud to continue to fight for the civil rights of all Americans.

The courage of Dr. King and the Civil Rights leaders who fought for equality in our country is immeasurable. We honor their hard work by continuing to exemplify and fight for the ideals of justice they championed."
